Carbon Reduction Plan
At RideTandem, we are committed to leading the way in sustainable employee and university shuttle services.
Our vision is to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2035, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future. Recognising the challenges in the current market, we are dedicated to addressing these issues head-on while maintaining the highest standards of service for our clients.
1. Baseline Emissions Footprint
Our baseline reflects a remote-first model, with 89.1% of emissions from home offices. No prior data exists as this was our first assessment. Methodology aligned with GHG Protocol.

Scope 3 Breakdown (2025 Estimate)
Home Office: 86.75 tCO₂e (20% reduction via efficiency measures)
Business Travel: 6.30 tCO₂e (40% reduction from virtual-first policy)
Other: 2.71 tCO₂e (No change assumed)
2. Emissions Reductions Targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets. We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 73 tCO₂e by 2030. This is a reduction of 40% compared to our 2021-2022 baseline (121.65 tCO₂e).
We will achieve the 40% emissions reduction by 2030 through targeted actions: implementing home office energy efficiency programs, introducing flight caps and rail-first travel policies, and maintaining 100% renewable energy for offices. Our phased approach focuses first on employee engagement (2025-2026) through voluntary measures, followed by expanded initiatives (2027-2030) including optional home energy audits and stricter travel policies.
We prioritise achievable behavioural changes over costly infrastructure investments, with quarterly reviews ensuring progress toward both our 2030 target and Net Zero 2035 goal. This balanced strategy delivers measurable reductions while maintaining operational flexibility.
3. Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2021-2022 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes is projected to reduce our emissions to 73 tCO₂e by 2030, representing a 40% reduction (48.65 tCO₂e) against our 2021-2022 baseline (121.65 tCO₂e).
Since our 2021-2022 baseline, we have:
- Transitioned to 100% renewable energy for all office operations, eliminating Scope 2 emissions.
- Established a remote-first working model that inherently reduces commuting and office energy use
Future carbon reduction initiatives
In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:
- Home Office Efficiency Program
- Develop employee guidelines for energy-saving practices
- Create voluntary home energy audit program
- Implement annual energy efficiency awareness campaigns
- Sustainable Travel Program
- Introduce formal travel policy prioritising virtual meetings
- Set reduction targets for business flights
- Establish preferred booking with rail providers for essential travel
- Ongoing Monitoring
- Implement annual carbon footprint assessments
- Track key metrics like employee energy use and travel emissions
- Review progress quarterly and adjust strategies as needed
These projects focus on achievable, measurable actions that align with our remote-first operations and can deliver real emissions reductions without requiring significant capital investment. We will prioritise initiatives that maintain operational flexibility while making steady progress toward our targets.
4. Carbon Neutral Options
We are proud to offer all our clients the opportunity to make their shuttle services carbon neutral through our partnership with climatepartner.com. This option allows organisations to offset the carbon emissions associated with their journeys, meaning carbon neutral is an option already in 2024.
5. Transition to Electric Vehicles
We understand the importance of reducing emissions at the source. While electric vehicles (EVs) are currently in short supply and come at a premium, we are actively working with our partners at zenobe.com to support our operators in transitioning to electric fleets. Through long-term contracts, we empower our operators to make the necessary investments in EVs, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable transport ecosystem.
6. Long-Term Contracts for Sustainability
RideTandem is proud to support our operators by helping to secure long-term contracts. These agreements not only provide stability for our operators but also enable them to plan and invest in electric vehicles, paving the way for a sustainable future.
7. Transparent Measurement and Reporting
RideTandem is committed to transparency in our carbon reduction efforts. We understand the importance of accurate measurement to track progress and make informed decisions. To this end, we implement comprehensive tracking systems through our driver app and detailed vehicle occupancy reports to measure and report CO2 emissions associated with our employee shuttle services.
7.1 Driver App Tracking
Our advanced driver app enables real-time monitoring of routes. By leveraging this technology, we gain valuable insights into individual journeys, allowing us to identify areas for improvement and optimise routes for greater fuel efficiency.
7.2 Vehicle Occupancy Reports
Detailed vehicle occupancy reports provide us with a holistic view of resource utilisation. By analysing data on passenger numbers per journey, we can optimise vehicle capacity, reduce the number of underutilised trips, iterate the routes taken, and, consequently, lower overall carbon emissions.
7.3 Commitment to Accuracy
We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy in our emission measurements. Regular assessments ensure that our tracking systems align with industry best practices, providing our clients and stakeholders with reliable data on the environmental impact of their employee shuttle services.
8. Stakeholder Engagement
RideTandem encourages open dialogue with clients, operators, and other stakeholders regarding our carbon reduction initiatives. By fostering communication, we aim to share insights, address concerns, and collaboratively work towards achieving our collective sustainability goals.
As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our commitment to not only reduce carbon emissions but also to accurately measure and report our progress. By embracing transparency and engaging with stakeholders, RideTandem aims to set a benchmark for environmentally responsible employee shuttle services.
9. Continuous Improvement
We recognize that achieving our net-zero goal requires continuous effort and innovation. As technology evolves and more sustainable options become available, we will stay at the forefront, exploring and implementing new solutions to further reduce our environmental impact.
By aligning our efforts with our operators, clients, and partners, RideTandem is dedicated to making a meaningful contribution to carbon reduction. Together, we are driving positive change in the employee shuttle services industry, creating a more sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solution for businesses across the UK and Germany.
